DIY Economic Growth in the First Quarter of 2019

Abstract

The economy of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) as measured by the value of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices in the first quarter of 2018 reached Rp 34.30 trillion and at constant 2010 prices reached Rp 25.46 trillion.
  • The DIY economy in the first quarter of 2019 against the first quarter of 2018 grew 7.50 percent (y-on-y) higher than the growth of the same period in 2018 of 5.41 percent. When compared to the fourth quarter of 2018, the DIY economy grew 0.49 percent (q-to-q).
  • In terms of business fields, the highest growth (y-on-y) was achieved by the mining and quarrying business field at 8.8 percent, followed by construction which grew 7.38 percent, and the provision of accommodation and eating and drinking grew 6.52 percent. In terms of expenditure, the highest growth was the net inter-regional export component which grew 50.56 percent, followed by foreign exports which grew 16.56 percent, and foreign imports grew 12.01 percent.
  • The largest share of DIY economic growth in the first quarter of 2019 (y-on-y) was given by the construction business sector, which amounted to 1.85 percent, followed by information and communication and the provision of accommodation and eating and drinking, at 0.75 percent and 0.63 percent, respectively. From the expenditure side, the share of DIY economic growth in the first quarter of 2018 (y-on-y) was contributed by the household consumption component, followed by gross fixed capital formation, and government consumption.
  • Meanwhile, economic growth against the previous quarter (q-to-q) the largest contributor was the agricultural business sector, which amounted to 0.49 percent. The dominant share of agricultural business growth was driven by the growth of food crops which reached 304.75 percent.
