Abstract

  • The economy of the D.I. Yogyakarta as measured by the value of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices in the second quarter of 2019 reached Rp 34.46 trillion and at constant 2010 prices reached Rp 25.45 trillion.
  • The DIY economy in the second quarter of 2019 against the second quarter of 2018 grew 6.80 percent (y-on-y) higher than the growth of the same period in 2018 of 5.92 percent. When compared to the first quarter of 2019, the DIY economy contracted or grew negatively by 0.04 percent (q-to-q).
  • In terms of business fields, the highest growth (y-on-y) was achieved by the construction business field at 18.91 percent. Furthermore, water supply, waste management, waste, and recycling amounted to 8.70 percent followed by government administration, defense, and mandatory social security, which amounted to 8.47 percent. In terms of expenditure, the highest growth was the consumption expenditure component of private non-profit institutions at 18.20 percent, followed by gross fixed capital formation at 10.13 percent, and household consumption expenditure at 3.67 percent.
  • The largest share of DIY economic growth in the second quarter of 2019 (y-on-y) was given by the construction business sector at 1.83 percent, followed by information and communication and provision of accommodation and eating and drinking, at 0.82 percent and 0.74 percent, respectively. From the expenditure side, the share of DIY economic growth in Q2-2019 (y-on-y) was contributed by the gross fixed capital formation component, followed by household consumption expenditure.
  • Meanwhile, the largest contributor to economic growth against the previous quarter (q-to-q) was the construction business field, which amounted to 0.72 percent. The next largest share of growth was government administration, defense, and mandatory social security at 0.70 percent followed by wholesale and retail trade, repair of cars and motorcycles at 0.39 percent.
