Abstract

  • The quality of human development in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (D.I. Yogyakarta) is improving, marked by an increase in the composite indicators of the Human Development Index (HDI). 
  • The HDI level of D.I. Yogyakarta in 2019 has reached 79.99. This HDI figure is the second highest after DKI Jakarta Province and is much higher than the Indonesian HDI level of 71.92. D.I. Yogyakarta's HDI figure in 2019 increased by 0.46 points or grew 0.58 percent compared to the 2018 HDI (79.53).
  • The achievement of the 2019 HDI increase was driven by the four constituent indicators. Life expectancy (UHH) of babies born alive in 2019 reached 74.92 years and became the highest level among 34 provinces in Indonesia. The expected years of schooling (HLS) of the population aged 7 years and over in 2019 reached 15.58 years and was the highest among 34 provinces in Indonesia. The average years of schooling (RLS) of the population aged 25 years and above reached 9.38 years, higher than the national average (8.34 years). The average real adjusted per capita expenditure during 2019 reached IDR 14.39 million, higher than the national average of IDR 11.30 million.
