DIY Economic Growth in Quarter III-2020

Abstract

The economy of Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) as measured by the value of Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) on the basis of prevailing prices in the third quarter of 2020 reached Rp35.25 trillion and on a constant price basis 2010 reached Rp25.93 trillion.
  • The DIY economy in the third quarter of 2020 remained at 2.84 percent (y-on-y) in the third quarter of 2019. The contraction was lighter than the second quarter of 2020, which reached 6.72 percent, and reversed course compared to the same period in 2019 which grew 6.01 percent. When compared to the second quarter of 2020 the DIY economy grew by 9.24 percent (q-to-q).
  • Although still experiencing a growth contraction (y-on-y), some businesses recorded positive growth and the highest growth was achieved by healthcare and social activities businesses of 21.85 percent. Furthermore information and communication amounted to 17.83 percent and agriculture by 7.49 percent. In terms of spending, the high growth is the net inter-area export component which is above 380 percent, while other components are still growing negatively.
  • The largest increase in DIY economic growth in the third quarter of 2020 (y-on-y) was provided by information and communication businesses by 2.01 percent, followed by agriculture by 0.61 percent, and health and social services by 0.57 percent. In terms of spending, the largest growth was contributed by the net inter-area export component.
  • Meanwhile, high q-to-q economic growth in q-to-q is driven by all businesses, except government administration, defense, and mandatory social security. While in terms of spending, economic growth is driven by all components, except inventory changes
