Abstract

  • The quality of human development in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (D.I. Yogyakarta) has improved in the last decade as indicated by an increase in the composite indicator for the Human Development Index (HDI).
  • IPM D.I. Yogyakarta in 2020 reaches the level of 79.97 and is in the "High HDI" category. This HDI achievement is in the second highest rank after DKI Jakarta.
  •  IPM D.I. Yogyakarta in 2020 decreased by 0.02 points or decreased -0.03 percent compared to the HDI in 2019 (79.99).
  •  The decline in the 2020 HDI was influenced by a decrease in the index in the dimensions of a decent standard of living which could not be compensated by an increase in the index in the health and knowledge dimensions. The average adjusted real per capita expenditure during 2020 reached IDR 14.02 million and decreased 2.63 percent compared to 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Life expectancy (UHH) of babies born alive in 2020 reaches 74.99 years and is the highest UHH level among 34 provinces in Indonesia. The expected length of schooling (HLS) for people aged 7 years and over reaches 15.59 years and is recorded as the highest among 34 provinces in Indonesia. The average length of schooling (RLS) of residents aged 25 years and over has reached 9.55 years.
