Abstract

Exports in May 2022 reached US$35.7 million, down 36.70 percent compared to the previous month.
Imports in May 2022 were valued at US$10.1 million, down 14.41 percent.
The export value of D.I. Yogyakarta in May 2022 reached US$35.7 million, down 36.70 percent compared to April 2022. Compared to May 2021, the export value decreased by 8.70 percent.
Cumulatively, the export value of D.I. Yogyakarta from January to May 2022 reached US$252.5 million, up 17.12 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
The largest exports in May 2022 were to the United States at US$15.4 million, followed by Germany at US$3.4 million and Japan at US$2.9 million, with the contribution of the three reaching 60.78 percent. Meanwhile, exports to the European Union and ASEAN amounted to US$10.6 million and US$1.1 million, respectively.
The largest decline in exports in May 2022 against April 2022 occurred in non-knitted apparel amounting to US$8.1 million (37.85 percent). The second decline was furniture, home lighting amounting to US$3.3 million (46.48 percent) and thirdly leather goods US$2.9 million (43.94 percent).
By sector, exports of agricultural products in May 2022 decreased by 50.00 percent compared to April 2022. Meanwhile, exports of processing industry products fell 36.65 percent.
Compared to May 2021, exports of agricultural products fell 90.91 percent. Meanwhile, exports of processing industry products fell by 6.32 percent.
According to the province of the port of loading, the largest exports of D.I. Yogyakarta in May 2022 were sent through Central Java with a value of US$23.9 million (66.95 percent), followed by DKI Jakarta US$10.6 million (29.69 percent), East Java US$1.1 million (3.08 percent), and D.I. Yogyakarta US$0.1 million (0.28 percent).
The import value of D.I. Yogyakarta in May 2022 reached US$10.1 million, down 14.41 percent compared to April 2022. The value also decreased by 36.88 percent compared to May 2021. Cumulatively, the import value from January to May 2022 reached US$64.3 million, down 2.13 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
The three largest supplier countries of imported goods in May 2022 were China US$4.9 million. Then followed by Hong Kong with US$2.0 million and Taiwan with US$0.9 million.
The largest decrease in imports from Taiwan was US$0.8 million (47.06 percent) and the largest increase was from Thailand US$0.1 million (50.00 percent). The three largest supplier countries of imported goods during January-May 2022 were China US$24.8 million (38.57 percent), Hong Kong US$13.8 million (21.46 percent), and Taiwan US$6.2 million (9.64 percent).
The top three import commodity groups in May 2022 were artificial lace at US$2.0 million; coated woven fabrics at US$1.5 million; and specially woven fabrics at US$1.4 million. The largest decrease in imports of goods in May 2022 compared to April 2022 was artificial lace at US$1.3 million (39.39 percent). Meanwhile, the largest increase was layered woven fabric US$0.5 million (50.00 percent).
According to the use of goods, the value of imports in May 2022 against the same period the previous year decreased in consumer goods by 92.31 percent. Likewise, raw / auxiliary materials fell 29.01 percent. Meanwhile, capital goods increased by 100.00 percent.
The trade balance of D.I. Yogyakarta in May 2022 experienced a surplus of US$25.6 million. This value is higher than the same period the previous year which recorded a surplus of US$23.1 million.
