Abstract

Open unemployment rate (TPT) of 3.58 percent
  • Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) of 73.43 percent
  • In February 2023, the total labor force in D.I. Yogyakarta was 2.23 million people. The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) was 73.43 percent, a decrease of 1.25 percentage points compared to February 2022.
  • The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in February 2023 was 3.58 percent, a decrease of 0.15 percentage points compared to February 2022 (3.73 percent).
  • The working population of D.I. Yogyakarta was 2.15 million people, a decrease of 396 people from February 2022. Employment that experienced an increase in percentage was mainly in Wholesale and Retail Trade (0.66 percent points), Transportation and Warehousing (0.51 percent points), and Financial and Insurance Activities (0.31 percent points). Meanwhile, employment that experienced a decrease was mainly in Education (0.73 percentage points); Human Health and Social Activities (0.46 percentage points); and Government Administration, Defense, and Compulsory Social Security (0.38 percentage points).
  • A total of 1.26 million people (58.53 percent) worked in informal activities, an increase of 1.22 percentage points compared to February 2022 of 57.31 percent. Most of the working population are full-time workers (67.68 percent). While part-time workers amounted to 28.38 percent and underemployed 3.94 percent.
  • A total of 1.97 percent of the working-age population affected by Covid-19 (59.93 thousand people), consisting of unemployment due to Covid-19 (3.43 thousand people), not the labor force (BAK) due to Covid-19 (4.39 thousand people), while not working due to Covid-19 (1.70 thousand people), and the working population who experienced a reduction in working hours due to Covid-19 (50.42 thousand people). Compared to February 2022, it decreased by 221.41 thousand people or 78.70 percent.
