DIY Economic Growth in the Second Quarter of 2023

Abstract

The economy of Yogyakarta Special Region based on Gross Regional Domestic Product at current prices in the second quarter of 2023 reached Rp44.84 trillion and at constant 2010 prices reached Rp29.47 trillion.
  • The DIY economy in the second quarter of 2023 against the second quarter of 2022 grew by 5.16 percent (y-on-y).  The highest growth was achieved by Transportation and Warehousing at 10.80 percent, followed by Financial Services and Other services, respectively 10.56 percent and 9.13 percent. In terms of expenditure, the highest growth was achieved by the consumption expenditure component of non-profit institutions serving households by 9.33 percent.
  • Compared to the first quarter of 2023, the DIY economy grew 0.90 percent (q-to-q). The business field that grew the highest was the Provision of Electricity and Gas at 5.96 percent, followed by Government Administration at 5.50 percent and the Provision of Accommodation and Drinking Food at 4.97 percent.   In terms of expenditure, it was mainly driven by the growth of the Government Consumption Expenditure Component of 10.54 percent.
  • The structure of the DIY economy in the second quarter of 2023 was dominated by the Processing Industry business sector 11.97 percent, Agriculture 10.30 percent, and Provision of Accommodation and Eating and Drinking 10.17 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, household consumption expenditure still dominated with a contribution of 62.59 percent, followed by gross fixed capital formation of 32.21 percent, and government consumption expenditure of 13.64 percent.
