Abstract

Open unemployment rate (TPT) of 3.69 percent
Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) of 74.08 percent
In August 2023, the total labor force in D.I. Yogyakarta was 2.22 million people. The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) was 74.08 percent, an increase of 1.48 percentage points compared to August 2022.
The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2023 was 3.69 percent, a decrease of 0.37 percentage points compared to August 2022 (4.06 percent). However, the rural TPT increased by 0.27 percentage points as a result of the prolonged El Nino.
The working population of D.I. Yogyakarta is 2.14 million people, or 96.31 percent of the total labor force in D.I. Yogyakarta. Employment fields that experienced an increase in the percentage of employment were mainly in Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (1.71 percentage points), Food and Drink Accommodation Provision (1.01 percentage points), and Wholesale and Retail Trade (0.98 percentage points). Meanwhile, employment that experienced a decline was mainly in the Manufacturing Industry (3.54 percent points); Transportation and Warehousing (0.73 percent points); and other services (0.52 percent points).
A total of 1.15 million people (53.78 percent) worked in informal activities, an increase of 0.40 percentage points compared to August 2022 of 53.38 percent.
Most of the working population are full-time workers (67.20 percent). Meanwhile, part-time workers amounted to 27.18 percent and 5.62 percent were underemployed.
