The Statistics Indonesia (BPS) officially commenced the field data collection for the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026) on June 15, 2026. The data collection is being conducted simultaneously across Indonesia and will continue until August 31, 2026.

SE2026 is the fifth Economic Census conducted by BPS since the first census was carried out in 1986. The census aims to provide comprehensive basic data on the structure and characteristics of Indonesia’s economy, covering all business actors, from micro and small enterprises to medium and large enterprises, including businesses operating through digital platforms.

During the field data collection, census officers will visit residential buildings and business locations directly to conduct interviews and record business information. Census officers can be identified by official attributes, including vests and identification cards. BPS encourages the public and business actors to welcome the officers and provide accurate and complete information to support the availability of reliable and high-quality economic data.

SE2026 is also designed to capture the increasingly diverse forms of economic activity, including e-commerce, app-based services, digital businesses, and the creative economy. The resulting data are expected to provide an up-to-date picture of Indonesia’s economic conditions and structure and serve as an important basis for development planning and policymaking at both the national and regional levels.

BPS encourages the public, particularly business actors, to actively participate in SE2026 by providing truthful information that reflects the actual conditions of their businesses. Public participation is essential to producing complete, accurate, and reliable economic data that can support inclusive and sustainable economic development.
