Abstract

The number of labor force in D.I Yogyakarta in February 2019 was 2.201 million people. In line with the increase in the number of labor force, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased by 0.95 percentage points in the past year. TPAK in February 2019 amounted to 73.16 percent.
The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) of D.I Yogyakarta in February 2019 amounted to 2.86 percent, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points compared to the TPT in February 2018 of 3.06 percent.
The working population in DI. Yogyakarta was 2.138 million people, an increase of 61.57 thousand people from February 2018. Over the past year, employment fields that experienced an increase in the percentage of working population were mainly in Trade (1.56 percent points), Agriculture (1.39 percent points), and Construction (1.17 percent points). Meanwhile, employment that experienced a decrease was mainly in Manufacturing Industry (3.62 percent points), Corporate Services (1.14 percent points), and Information and Accommodation (0.58 percent points).
In February 2019, 1.084 million people (50.7 percent) worked in informal activities, down 0.9 percentage points compared to 51.6 percent in February 2018.
The highest percentage in February 2019 was full workers (working hours of at least 35 hours per week) at 68.72 percent. Meanwhile, non-full-time workers are divided into two, namely part-time workers (24.9 percent) and underemployed workers (6.39 percent).
