Abstract

Yogyakarta City in May 2019 experienced inflation of 0.42 percent due to an increase in the consumer price index of the foodstuff group up 0.85 percent; processed food group up 0.16 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel group up 0.04 percent; clothing group up 0.39 percent; health up 0.52 percent; transport, communication and financial services group up 1.00 percent. Meanwhile, the education and recreation group fell 0.04 percent.
Of the 82 cities that calculated the inflation rate, 81 CPI cities experienced inflation and 1 CPI city experienced deflation, the highest inflation occurred in Tual City at 2.91 percent followed by Manado City and Manokwari at 2.60 percent and 2.25 percent respectively, while the lowest inflation occurred in Kediri City at 0.05 percent, followed by Bau-Bau City and Surabaya which reached 0.15 percent and 0.18 percent respectively. Deflation occurred in Merauke City which reached 0.49 percent.
The calendar inflation rate (May 2019 against December 2018) amounted to 1.49 percent and the year on year inflation rate (May 2019 against May 2018) amounted to 3.33 percent.
