Abstract

The Consumer Tendency Index (ITK) is an indicator of the latest consumer economic development produced by the Central Statistics Agency through the Consumer Tendency Survey (STK). ITK describes the economic conditions of household consumers during the current quarter (current ITK) and the estimated conditions during the next quarter (future ITK).
The ITK of DIY during the second quarter of 2019 was at the level of 127.30. This means that consumer economic conditions during the current quarter increased more optimistically compared to the previous quarter.
The increase in consumer optimism during the second quarter of 2019 was driven by the three constituent indices, especially the consumption volume index and current income index. The value of the three indices is at an optimistic level (index > 100).
The ITK value of DIY in the upcoming third quarter of 2019 is estimated at the level of 99.65. This means that the forecast of consumer economic conditions over the next quarter will be slightly more pessimistic compared to the current quarter.
The pessimistic level of the ITK forecast in the third quarter of 2019 will be driven by the index of purchases of durable goods which declined after the Eid al-Fitr celebration and holidays.
