Development of DIY Consumer Price Index in September 2019

Abstract

Yogyakarta City in September 2019 experienced a deflation of 0.07 percent due to a decrease in the consumer price index of the foodstuff group by 1.34 percent. While the processed food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco group rose 0.10 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose 0.24 percent; clothing group rose 0.95 percent; health group rose 0.30 percent; education, recreation and sports group rose 0.27 percent and the transport, communication and financial services group rose 0.14 percent.
82 cities calculated the inflation rate, 12 CPI cities experienced inflation and 70 CPI cities experienced deflation, the highest inflation occurred in Meulaboh City at 0.91 percent followed by Tual and Bengkulu City at 0.65 percent and 0.64 percent respectively, while the lowest inflation occurred in Palopo and Watampone which each reached 0.01 percent. The largest deflation occurred in Sibolga City which reached -1.94 percent followed by Medan City and Jayapura which reached -1.92 percent and -1.26 percent respectively.
The calendar inflation rate (September 2019 against December 2018) was 1.80 percent and the year on year inflation rate (September 2019 against September 2018) was 2.99 percent.
