Abstract

Inflation of 0.46 percent was caused by an increase in the consumer price index of the foodstuff group by 1.10 percent; the processed food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco group by 0.39 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose 0.11 percent; the health group rose 0.47 percent and the transport, communication and financial services group rose 0.78 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing group fell by 0.18 percent and the education, recreation and sports group fell by 0.02 percent.

82 cities calculated the inflation rate, 72 CPI cities experienced inflation and 10 CPI cities experienced deflation, the highest inflation occurred in Batam City at 1.28 percent followed by Tanjung Pinang City and Tanjung Pandan at 1.17 percent each, while the lowest inflation occurred in Watampone City which reached 0.01 percent. The largest deflation occurred in Manado City which reached -1.88 percent followed by Ambon City and Medan which reached -0.33 percent and -0.28 percent respectively.

The calendar and year on year inflation rate (December 2019 against December 2018) amounted to 2.77 percent.
