Abstract

The number of labor force in D.I. Yogyakarta in August 2019 was 2.204 million people, an increase of 0.56 percent (12 thousand people) compared to August 2018. The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) was 72.94 percent in August 2019.
The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) of D.I Yogyakarta in August 2019 amounted to 3.14 percent, a decrease of 0.21 percentage points compared to the TPT in August 2018 (3.35 percent).
The working population was 2.135 million people, an increase of 16 thousand people from August 2018. Over the past year, employment that experienced an increase in the percentage of the working population was mainly in Educational Services (1.33 percent points), Processing Industry (0.67 percent points), and Health Services and Social Activities (0.52 percent points). Meanwhile, employment that experienced a decrease was mainly in Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (1.38 percent points), and Construction (0.85 percent points).
In August 2019, as many as 1.103 million people (51.66 percent) worked in informal activities, down 2.75 percentage points compared to August 2018 at 54.41 percent.
Most of the working population in August 2019 were full-time workers (working hours of at least 35 hours per week) at 69.37 percent. Meanwhile, non-full-time workers are divided into two, namely part-time workers (26.69 percent) and underemployed workers (3.94 percent).
