Abstract

The export value of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in August 2021 reached US$43.9 million, an increase of 8.40 percent compared to exports in July 2021. Compared to August 2020, the export value increased by 41.16 percent.
  • Cumulatively, the export value of the Special Region of Yogyakarta from January to August 2021 reached US$342.7 million, an increase of 41.38 percent over the same period in 2020.
  • The largest August 2021 export was to the United States at US$18.5 million, followed by Germany at US$3.7 million and Japan at US$3.5 million, with the contribution of the three reaching 58.54 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union (27 countries) amounted to US$0.9 million and US$12.9 million, respectively.
  • The largest increase in exports in August 2021 compared to July 2021 occurred in essential oils, perfumed cosmetics, amounting to US$2.1 million (300.00 percent). Meanwhile, the largest decline occurred in leather goods of US$1.4 million (29.17 percent).
  • By sector, exports of processing industry products from January to August 2021 rose 41.58 percent compared to the same period in 2020, as well as exports of agricultural products rose by 23.08.
  • According to the province of goods delivery, the largest export of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in August 2021 was sent via Central Java with a value of US$30.2 million (68.79 percent), followed by DKI Jakarta at US$12.3 million (28.02 percent) and East Java at US$1. .4 million (3.19 percent).
  • The import value of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in August 2021 reached US$13.1 million, up 35.05 percent compared to July 2021 or down 8.39 percent compared to August 2020. Cumulatively, the import value from January to August 2021 reached US$100.1 million, an increase of 25 percent. .75 percent compared to the same period 2020.

The largest increase in imports of goods in August 2021 compared to July 2021 was coffee, tea, spices at US$1.9 million. Meanwhile, the biggest decrease was the engines of mechanical aircraft at US$ 0.4 million (66.67 percent).
  • According to the category of use of goods, the value of imports from January to August 2021 compared to the same period the previous year saw a decline in consumption goods by 25.66 percent. Meanwhile, the increase occurred in 36.90 percent of raw/auxiliary materials and 54.05 percent of capital goods.
  • The trade balance of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in August 2021 experienced a surplus of US$30.8 million. Likewise, the cumulative January-August 2021 surplus was US$242.6 million.
