Economic Growth of DI Yogyakarta in Q4 2021

Abstract

The economy of the Special Region of Yogyakarta based on the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices in the fourth quarter of 2021 reached IDR 38.81 trillion and at constant 2010 prices reached IDR 27.46 trillion.
  • The DIY economy during 2021 grew by 5.53 percent (c-to-c). This condition is better than the previous year, which experienced a contraction of 2.68 percent. The highest growth was achieved by other services business fields and only two business fields experienced contraction. Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, all components grew positively, except for net exports between regions.
  • The DIY economy in the fourth quarter of 2021 against the fourth quarter of 2020 grew by 2.82 percent (y-on-y). The highest growth was achieved by Agriculture at 25.41 percent, followed by other services and transportation. In terms of expenditure, all components, except consumption expenditure of nonprofit private institutions and inventory changes, grew positively. Foreign exports and imports experienced more than double-digit growth.
  • Compared to the third quarter of 2021, the DIY economy grew by 3.68 percent (q-to-q). The highest-growing business sector was other services, followed by transportation and provision of accommodation and eating and drinking. From the expenditure side, it was mainly driven by growth in government consumption, foreign exports, and gross fixed capital formation.
  • The economic structure of DIY in 2021 is dominated by the manufacturing industry, information and communication, and construction. Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, household consumption expenditure still dominates with a contribution of 64.32 percent, followed by gross fixed capital formation of 32.83 percent, and government consumption expenditure of 15.45 percent.
