Export and Import Development of Special Region of Yogyakarta, December 2022

Abstract

Exports in December 2022 reached US$54.8 million, up 28.04 percent compared to the previous month.
  • Imports in December 2022 were valued at US$11.1 million, down 11.90 percent.
  • The export value of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in December 2022 reached US$54.8 million, an increase of 28.04 percent compared to November 2022. Compared to December 2021, the export value decreased by 14.51 percent.
  • Cumulatively, the export value of the Special Region of Yogyakarta from January to December 2022 reached US$583.3 million, an increase of 4.53 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
  • The largest December 2022 exports were to the United States at US$22.8 million, followed by Japan at US$5.1 and Germany at US$3.4 million. The contribution of the three reached 57.12 percent. Meanwhile, exports to the European Union amounted to US$15.0 million and ASEAN amounted to US$1.2 million.
  • The largest increase in exports in December 2022 against November 2022 occurred in non-knitted apparel amounting to US$6.5 million. The second largest increase was knitted goods at US$3.0 million and the third was essential oils, perfumed cosmetics at US$0.9 million.
  • By sector, exports of agricultural products in December 2022 showed an increase of 66.67 percent compared to November 2022. Meanwhile, exports of processing industry products increased by 27.76 percent. Compared to December 2021, exports of agricultural products increased by 150.00 percent. Meanwhile, exports of processing industry products fell 15.02 percent.
  • According to the province of the port of loading, the largest exports of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in December 2022 were sent through Central Java by 70.07 percent, followed by DKI Jakarta 27.92 percent, East Java 1.46 percent, and D.I. Yogyakarta 0.55 percent.
  • The import value of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in December 2022 reached US$11.1 million, down 11.90 percent compared to November 2022. Meanwhile, when compared to December 2021, the import value decreased by 21.83 percent. Cumulatively, the import value from January to December 2022 reached US$145.6 million, down 5.33 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
  • The three largest supplier countries of imported goods in December 2022 were China at US$5.2 million, Hong Kong US$2.3 million and the United States US$0.7 million. The largest increase in imports from China was US$0.3 million and the largest decrease from the United States was US$0.9 million. The three largest supplier countries of imported goods during January-December 2022 were China at 38.67 percent, Hong Kong 18.68 percent and South Korea 8.10 percent.
  • The top three import commodity groups in December 2022 were artificial filaments at US$2.5 million; specially woven fabrics at US$1.0 million; and coated woven fabrics at US$0.9 million. The largest increase in imports of goods groups in December 2022 compared to November 2022 was artificial staff fibers 28.57 percent. While the largest decrease was electrical machinery / equipment 75.00 percent.
  • According to the use of goods, the value of imports in December 2022 against the same period the previous year decreased in consumer goods by 37.50 percent. Meanwhile, raw/auxiliary materials fell 20.61 percent and capital goods fell 33.33 percent.
  • The trade balance of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in December 2022 experienced a surplus of US$43.7 million. This value is lower than the same period the previous year which recorded a surplus of US$49.9 million.
