Abstract

Exports in May 2023 reached US$41.5 million, up 32.17 percent compared to the previous month.
  • Imports in May 2023 were valued at US$11.8 million, up 66.20 percent.
  • The export value of Yogyakarta Special Region in May 2023 reached US$41.5 million, up 32.17 percent compared to April 2023. Compared to May 2022, the export value increased by 16.25 percent.
  • Cumulatively, the export value of Yogyakarta Special Region from January to May 2023 reached US$191.5 million or decreased by 24.19 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
  • The largest export in May 2023 was to the United States at US$16.1 million, followed by Germany at US$3.9 million and Japan at US$3.4 million. The contribution of the three reached 56.39 percent. Meanwhile, exports to the European Union amounted to US$11.6 million and ASEAN amounted to US$1.0 million.
  • The biggest increase in exports in May 2023 against April 2023 occurred in non-knitted apparel amounting to US$6.2 million. Meanwhile, the largest decline was in leather goods at US$0.8 million.
  • By sector, exports of agricultural products in May 2023 increased by 50.00 percent compared to April 2023. Meanwhile, exports of processing industry products increased by 32.05 percent. Compared to May 2022, exports of agricultural products increased by 200.00 percent. Meanwhile, exports of processing industry products increased by 15.41 percent.
  • According to the province of the port of loading, the largest exports of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in May 2023 were sent through Central Java by 75.91 percent, followed by DKI Jakarta 23.13 percent, D.I. Yogyakarta 0.72 percent, and East Java 0.24 percent.
  • The import value of Yogyakarta Special Region in May 2023 reached US$11.8 million, up 66.20 percent compared to April 2023. Meanwhile, compared to May 2022, the import value increased by 16.83 percent. Cumulatively, the import value from January to May 2023 reached US$55.3 million or decreased by 14.00 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
  • The three largest supplier countries of imported goods in May 2023 were China with US$4.5 million, Hong Kong with US$2.6 million and the United States with US$1.3 million. The largest increase in imports from China was US$1.6 million and the largest decrease from India was US$0.1 million. The largest supplier of imported goods during January-May 2023 was China at US$20.1 million.
  • The top three import commodity groups in May 2023 were knitted fabrics US$2.6 million; specially woven fabrics US$1.2 million; and coated woven fabrics US$1.0 million. The largest increase in imports of goods groups in May 2023 compared to April 2023 was knitted fabrics US$0.8 million.
  • According to the use of goods, the value of imports in May 2023 against the same period the previous year rose 266.67 percent in consumer goods. While raw/auxiliary materials rose 9.68 percent and capital goods showed the same value.
  • The trade balance of Yogyakarta Special Region in May 2023 experienced a surplus of US$29.7 million. This value is higher than the same period the previous year which recorded a surplus of US$25.6 million.
