Abstract

In March 2020, the level of expenditure disparity in the population of the Daerah Istimewa (D.I.) Yogyakarta showed an increase compared to conditions one semester before. This is reflected in the March 2020 Gini Ratio number which was recorded at 0.434, an increase of 0.006 points compared to September 2019 of 0.428.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas experienced an increase in March 2020 when compared to September 2019. The Gini Ratio in urban areas was 0.436 or an increase of 0.006 points in the last semester. Meanwhile the level of inequality in rural areas also shows an increase. The March 2020 Gini Ratio in rural areas is 0.328, up 0.002 points compared to September 2019.
  • Based on World Bank criteria, as of March 2020, the level of inequality in D.I. Yogyakarta is in the category of moderate inequality. This is reflected in the percentage of expenditure in the lowest 40 percent of the population reaching 15.26 percent.
  • Based on the results of the March 2020 Susenas, in the rural areas the lowest 40 percent of the population has a proportion of expenditure of 20.13 percent of the total population expenditure. Meanwhile, in urban groups the lowest 40 percent of the population has expenditures of 14.66 percent of the total population expenditure.
