Abstract

August 2022 deflation amounted to 0.12 percent. The biggest contributor to deflation was shallots, which fell by 34.63 percent.
Yogyakarta City in August 2022 experienced deflation of 0.12 percent due to a decrease in the consumer price index of the food group by 1.63 percent and the information, communication and financial services group by 0.04 percent. While groups that experienced an increase in the index, namely: clothing and footwear group by 0.19 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.28 percent; household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.11 percent; health group by 0.29 percent; transportation group by 0.67 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 0.16 percent; education group by 1.08 percent; and personal care and other services group by 0.29 percent. Meanwhile, the food and beverage/restaurant supply group was relatively stable.
90 cities that calculated the inflation rate, 79 cities experienced deflation and 11 cities experienced inflation.
The calendar inflation rate (August 2022 against December 2021) was 4.24 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2022 against August 2021) was 5.52 percent.
