Abstract

The number of workers in D.I. Yogyakarta in August 2020 was 2.228 million people, a decrease of 0.80 percent (18 thousand people) compared to August 2019. The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) is 71.12 percent. • D.I Yogyakarta Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2020 was 4.57 percent, an increase of 1.39 percentage points compared to TPT August 2019 (3.18 percent).

D.I. Yogyakarta's working population of 2.126 million people decreased by 48 thousand people from August 2019. Employment increased percentage points primarily in Trade (2.03 percentage points) and Agriculture (1.12 percentage points). Meanwhile, employment declined mainly on Providing accommodation and drinking (1.16 percentage points), Corporate Services (0.83 percentage points), and Construction (0.76 percentage points).

As of August 2020, a total of 1.221 million people (57.41 percent) worked on informal activities or up 5.77 percentage points compared to August 2019 of 51.64 percent.

The vast majority of the working population is full-time workers (63.68 percent). While part-time workers were 28.29 per cent and half unemployed 8.04 per cent.

There are 540.12 thousand people in D.I. Yogyakarta affected by Covid-19, consisting of unemployment (32.37 thousand people), Non-labor force (22.83 thousand people), temporary unemployed (36.57 thousand people), and working people who experience reduced working hours (448.35 thousand people).
