Abstract

The Consumer Tendency Index (ITK) is an indicator of the latest consumer economic development produced by the Central Statistics Agency through the Consumer Tendency Survey (STK). ITK describes the economic conditions of household consumers during the current quarter (current ITK) and the estimated conditions during the next quarter (future ITK).
The ITK of DIY during the third quarter of 2019 was at the level of 103.47. This means that consumer economic conditions during the current quarter were optimistic (ITK>100).
Consumer optimism during the third quarter of 2019 was driven by two constituent indices, namely the current income index and the index of the effect of inflation on consumption. The values of both indices were at an optimistic level, while the consumption volume index was at a pessimistic level.
The ITK value of DIY in the upcoming fourth quarter of 2019 is estimated at 108.03. This means that the estimated economic condition of consumers over the next one quarter will be slightly more optimistic compared to the third quarter of 2019. The optimism of the upcoming ITK is driven by the upcoming income index.
